It’s the second episode of the Finding Home Elsewhere podcast, where we explore experiences of people building new lives in new places. In this episode, Jonatan Díaz Trivín, a Spanish teacher and artist, shares his journey from Spain to France, where he worked at Futuroscope amusement park and taught in Angers, before eventually settling in New York City through a teaching exchange program.

Johnny’s time in France marked the beginning of his teaching career, with stints in Angers as a high school assistant and later as a substitute teacher at a prestigious French school. His later journey to New York, fueled by a fascination with American culture came with its own set of challenges, from the grueling process of securing a green card to adjusting to the fast-paced, chaotic environment of NYC schools.

In each episode of Finding Home Elsewhere, you’ll hear real stories about the highs, lows, and everything in between when it comes to relocating—adapting to new cultures, finding community, and redefining what home means.

This podcast is an extension of my mission to explore the evolving concept of belonging in a constantly changing world. Whether you’re considering a move, curious about life abroad, or simply love hearing personal stories of transformation, I hope you’ll tune in.
